It’s that time of the year again, when the skies will be ablaze and the battle lines, drawn. Today is Makar Sankranti, the festival of kites and colour, that will have folks pitch themselves at rooftops, waving their coloured kites.
For actress Gul Panag who’s excited over flying her own kite in the city, it’s an exciting time. “For those of us from north it’s a day we celebrate Lohri, and in Mumbai which is my home, it’s a very colourful fete,”she says. “I think kites are beautiful and as kids I remember how we often tried flying them in Punjab. I’d get my friends to get my kites to take off and then fly it once it was up in the air. I watched with envy those who did manage to get their kites airborne – it seemed effortless and there was so much positive energy around,” she adds.
