CNN-IBN: Tell us about the film Straight Talk, you play Vinay Pathak’s love interest?

Gul Panag: Yes, I play one of his love interest and it’s a film about the guy who does not know whether he likes men or women. So that is what forms the crux of the story .

CNN-IBN: What do you have to say about homosexuality? So much is said about Article 377, what is your take on it?

Gul Panag: I think in a democracy and If we say we are one, then nobody should say anything about one’s sexual preference.

CNN-IBN: You have worked with Vinay earlier in Manorama Six feet Under where you played his sister. In Straight Talk you play his love interest. So has it been any different?

Gul Panag: Vinay is a great actor, great co-star. I have worked with him in Manorama Six Feet Under where I was his sister and in this one I’m playing his love interest. So there is this thing i keep teasing about it and he does not like it but I love the look of embarrassment on his face.

CNN-IBN: Now, there is even a lip-lock scene people are talking about?

Gul Panag: Well, they should. We are all hypocrites, we all kiss but we don’t want to see it on screen. As for me I have done it before so it is a non-issue for me. But for Vinay it’s his first kiss so I told him don’t worry, leave it for me I’m a pro let me handle it.

CNN-IBN: You are even doing Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann, tell us a little bit about that?

Gul Panag: It’s a little too early to talk about Rann as it is still under production. It’s a film about nexus between the media, politicians and industrialist. I play a girl called Nandita, who is an assistant director on ads. And I am trying to make a film, I am basically the voice of the nation.
