Festivity all the way
Posted by Gul Panag on November 9th, 2011
This appears in the October issue of The Man WHEN I THINK OF THE FESTIVE season, the one thing that jumps out at me is the food! Every where that one looks, there are luxurious treats being cooked up. And of course resplendent clothes for the asking. more
XUV 5OO review
Posted by Gul Panag on November 8th, 2011
XUV 500 One test drive never really gives you an opportunity to get to know a car. And I was glad when Mahindra decided to let me have the XUV5OO (W8) for a weekend. I used the car from Friday to Monday doing all I normally do. Trips to the gym in crawling traffic, to visit my cousin who lives near a pothole ridden road( some of them one foot… more

The Journey of Luxury
Posted by Gul Panag on August 29th, 2011
This appears in the August issue of The Man WITH THIS COLUMN FOR THE MAN, I am embarking on a new journey and a new relationship. Unlike in the past (particularly when it comes to the latter) I haven't often had time to ponder. Today, however, as I sit in a plush seat, 39,000 feet in the air, on my way to Toronto to watch U2 live in concert, I… more
The Thirst for Travel
Posted by Gul Panag on April 14th, 2011
(This appears in the anniversary issue of Asiaspa magazine. I was the guest editor of the travel section) I have always had a never-ending thirst for seeing new places. It's something I have inherited  from my father who in the 70s  hitched hiked and back-packed his way from Kabul through the Middle East, Eastern Europe to finally end up in England 6 months later. It's something I've always wanted to… more
I’ll Never Marry A Cricket Lover
Posted by Gul Panag on March 8th, 2011
(This appears in the march issue of Sports Illustrated) There are two kinds of people in India—those who love cricket and those who don’t. Love being the operative word. Of course, there are other things that are going on in this country besides cricket. But you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise. We clearly don’t project the fact that we are a country that plays other sports, or one that… more
Greatest love of all
Posted by Gul Panag on February 1st, 2011
(This appears in the Feb edition of Marie Claire) Give yourself time to discover who you are – that is the best way to understand whom you want Love – modern or ancient – is all about knowing what (and whom) you want. And what you’ll hopefully continue to want in the years to come. An important part of which is discovering yourself, figuring out who you really are. As… more
Racing
Posted by Gul Panag on February 1st, 2011
( This appears in the January edition of Auto India) Speed never thrilled me. My wish list for a bike is topped by a cruiser( not a sports bike)- the Victory Hammer and that of a car by the Jeep Cherokee.  I have always enjoyed off-roading much much more than speeding. So it was with a less than enthusiastic response that I accepted an invitation to race at the VW… more
My Thar experience
Posted by Gul Panag on January 31st, 2011
At first sight it looks very  butch. And the impression doesn't quite change after driving it for 3days. The Thar is a good looking rugged automobile( if you're into retro looks). I was taken aback by how peppy it is. With a  2.5L crde engine( a variant of the Scorpio's) I was sure it wouldnt be sluggish- but it's pick up took me by surprise. It is lighter than it's… more
Being single @ 30
Posted by Gul Panag on December 20th, 2010
There goes a saying that a woman over the age of 30 is more likely to get hit by a bomb than find a man. In the past, there was a notion in India that an unmarried woman above 30 was a burden to the family. Fingers were pointed at her and it was a social stigma. It was hard even to find rented apartments to live in for such… more
